"Raúl and María Elena are terrific!...

...We met them at the airport in Lima and they held our hands throughout the whole adoption process... They anticipated our every question and calmed our nerves... They have since become friends and we highly recommend their services..."

Adoptions

Those seeking to adopt in Peru need to apply through one of the approved U.S. agencies to MIMDES for permission to adopt. They will need to comply with the immigration and legal requirements of the United States and Peru respectively. Prospective adoptive parents, single or married, must be at least 18 years older than the child to be adopted.

The time elapsed from the initial contact with an adoption agency until the day the adopted child arrives in the U.S. ranges from nine to twelve months. Prospective adoptive parents should plan to stay in Peru for approximately one month.

Peruvian families, or those where one of the spouses is Peruvian, that reside abroad are also allowed to adopt Peruvian children. These families are also able to adopt children related to them such as a niece or nephew, a grand child, or a sibling. The adoption process for these adoptions will be conducted before the Peruvian Judicial Courts.2. Birth family searches

Birth family searches

Birth family searches are possible most children born and adopted in Peru, regardless of their current place of residence.

After carrying out the research, in most cases Raúl finds the birth family and establishes contact with it. He is able to obtain precious information and many pictures of the birth family for the adopted child and his family. Both families are usually thrilled to finally come in contact after many years of wondering, searching and asking. Some time later, they all met in Lima and held a meeting that is facilitated by Raúl. The families keep in contact.

While conducting a search, Raúl works on the principle that the only people who know are the adoptee, the parents and the birth mother. He is very careful in making contact.

The birth family search can be carried in different ways, depending on the information available and other circumstances. If required, it includes an initial contact, as well as acting as an intermediary and translator, allowing time for both sides to comfortably contact each as the relationship develops in an organic way.

If you are interested in conducting a birth family search for yourself or your child, please contact Raúl.
